Feather of a Rainbird

Pitter patter comes the sound of the rainbird
Landing upon your porch and roof and sidewalk
Splish splash their wings taking off heard
Only to perch a few seconds away to taunt and mock

What is this contradictory creature
Untamed by any intruder?
No tangible scales, hair, or fur
These feather light touches are even falser

This bird come here and again
Migrates with the wind and breeze
Clouds are their homes at every bend
Shifting and morphing with such ease

Why do they carry such sounds of sorrow?
I cannot answer because I know not the trill
I only hear the cheery pitter patter and chilly blow
Of wind that brought them near my windowsill

Why do they come during the gloomiest of grays?
I would not be certain as I watch only their flight and descent
Accompanied with a splish splash and feathered spray
That never seems to get neither damaged nor bent

In my hand, I try to lift a gentle feather
But with me it cannot seem to stay
Out of my hand, it continues to flutter
To meet with its companions til the arrival of rays

So adaptive to the minds and ambiances
Environments, habitats, and realities it creates
Real is only what it is and becomes as it dances
And the swirls of color and lack of it baits

The symphony and silky feather touch lure
But run your hands through and it’ll keep steady path
Trickle, drip, drop, flood – always part pure
So light and trance fulfilling, yet pounding full of wrath

A feather of a rainbird like any feather
Tickles soft and lands with an unmatchable flow
But is a pound of feathers to a pound of rocks any lighter?
Time to meet your rainbird and let your pattern show

As Seasons Change

Oranges, browns, blues, greens
The spectrum of the year
And the pantomime of its seasons
The sounds of ocean breeze
Mix with the sweet showers of rain
The clash of thunder
Booming with the gongs and drums
The whistle of birds
Entangled with the sounds
Of wind chimes and glass bottles
The melodies of the wind and world file in
Filling the soul with passion and freedom
Cleansing past pain to dull
And rejuvenating life in inspiring ways
Stronger with each turn of the cycle
And each month past
Following and leading through the seasons

Heart’s song weaves through
Sweet smells with each note
Memories created and unfolded
Silent understanding in each
Tight embrace,
Light touch,
Quiet glance,
Loud laugh,
And fond seconds past

Watching and loving
What many either cannot or will not
Wafting in the beauty of the seasons
Wishing naught despite what
Wandered through the past
Wallowing in regret won’t make amends
Work forward and find yourself again

The rain showers pounding sweetly
Upon water, pavement, and brick
Singing stormy stories
As thunderclouds hover
Dispensing thunder’s tremors and tales
Lighting lashes the length of the sky
Bolting brightly, breaking by the grey

As people hide under their covers
I sing with the song and run outside
Arms thrown wide, head thrown back
Laughing as I spin
Loving as I live
Circles upon circles
Twirling and dancing
Insane and perfect in every way
Ripples trail along the surface
Cold air nips at my nose and fingertips
Water droplets all around
Atmosphere clean and anew

Wind whips my hair
Behind my head then
Across my face
Hands move to push it back
To little avail
Let it be and let all be
Listen instead and focus instead
On the secrets of the breeze

Listen to the sounds of the seasons
Shifting each second
Taste the colors as they melt to one
Creating new days overlapping old
Feel the difference of the atmosphere
Morphing to something better
Observe the storms and winds ahead
Challenging your every step
And listen to that song of your soul
Moving to the changes of the seasons

In The Rain

Standing in the rain,
Twirling, faces towards the skies,
Dancing through the droplets,
Memories past flash by
Through times new and old
Of happiness, depression, and all else
Like the pages of a book, they unfold
As a screenplay, the images roll
The numerous connotations swish by
In a few blinks of the eye

It is sprinkling,
Miniscule water molecules
Floating down,
Fluttering through the air,
And the thoughts begin
Looking up towards the sky
At the clouds forming,
To the heavens,
Towards the formation
Of the beginning

The unseen waters condense
Growing and building
As we have throughout our lives
We think of the childhood times
Of hiding beneath our covers
As the loud thunder booms
And the lightning frightening flashes
Across the stormy sky
Of the warmth and comfort
In the caring embrace of mom’s hugs
Of the laughter rippling
As we jump in the puddles
Left behind from the downpour
The silver lining from the terrifying storm

As the droplets rain down
Harder and faster
We think of our childhood passing
And aging and maturing
Becoming older and wiser
Yet, even the wisest of all
Still make mistakes
And can be hurt
Thinking of when we were wrong
And the pain that followed
The mishap or misjudgment
Yet the sweet reward that came
With our accomplishments
And the achievement,
Dulcet and making it all worth it
Taking that plunge,
Diving into the unknown,
And surfacing victorious

Tears begin to fall
From the pools collecting
Beneath our eyes
And join with the tears of the heavens
Splattering steadily
Upon the pools collecting
Underneath our feet
In a rhythm constant as a drum
That played the song of our lives
Of our beating heart

Remembering the painful times
Of broken relationships,
Lost jobs or money,
Or a failing grade,
Breaking of belief,
Loss of hope, trust, and
Worst of all, loved ones

Yet the bliss that weaved in and out
Along with the hurt and sorrow
Of kissing in the rain,
Laughter among friends and family,
Success in school, work, and life
Believing, hoping, trusting,
And most of all loving,
Holding in our hearts,
Each and every person,
Place, thing, or idea,
No matter the size or importance
That brought us happiness
And kept us going
Through the tougher times

Never forgetting
Those who lent a helping hand
When we fell tumbling down,
Or a shining light
When we got lost in the darkness,
Or spoke up, loud and clear,
When we have lost our voice
And stand by our sides always,
Seeing the pain in our eyes
Despite the false joy we plaster
Upon a counterfeit smile,
Fake laughter, and lying words

As the drizzling comes to a stop,
Tears are washed away by rainfall
Tearstains upon our faces unrecognizable
As nothing but streaks from the rain
And we start anew
Feeling not the tears we wept
But the rain that revived us
That continuous cycle
Which we could rely on
Throughout our cycle of life
Through the good and bad

The bittersweet rain,
Where the storms of life
Whirl with howling winds
And end with cleaner air,
Refreshing and new,
Ready to take on all
And a bright rainbow peeking out
With the coming sun
