Violet Hour

My thoughts so colored and vivid
Everything out and exploded
My reality highlighted
Knowing things unsaid

Acting this way, no reason why
Saying so is such a lie
Shaking those thoughts away
No time for this play by play

Feeling oh so surreal
How do we deal with this ordeal?
Falling back to fantasy dreams
Away from the extremes

Into the violet hour
No need for any superpower
Because here I’m complete
Nothing can compete

Floating up in bliss
Each moment one to miss
Up at cloud nine
Watching for the sign

Each passing day
A proud display
Held in the heart
Every part from the start

Staring at the ceiling
Just reminiscing
Some may say
To forget that day

But hold on to it
In the dark, it is lit
Bittersweet memories
Thinking of what would be

But won’t stand the pain
We’re in a new lane
Life will go on
As the past’s spawn

Into the violet hour
No need for any superpower
Because here I’m complete
Nothing can compete

A new day has come
To that I’ll succumb
Another time has arisen
Won’t stay in this prison

Breaking from this place
But leaving my trace
Before escaping free
Into lairs of fantasy

Into the violet hour
No need for any superpower
Because here I’m complete
Nothing can compete

Into the land of dreams
Following the stream
No longer struggling
Against every little thing

Unlocking the jail cell
That kept my heart well
Locked away by fear
Scared of pain and tears

Knowing that it comes
Like the beating of a drum
Sweet and sour alike
The soft and the spikes

Taking it as it comes
Adding up the sums
Feeling new and alive
A rejuvenated drive

Into the violet hour
No need for any superpower
Because here I’m complete
Nothing can compete

Standing so royal
Proud and regal
Turning it around
At last, feeling sound

Elegant and graceful
No longer so dull
Life in perspective
So much more prospective

Into the violet hour
No need for any superpower
Because here I’m complete
Nothing can compete

Torpedo

Birdless skies cloudy and grey
Until a single torpedo flits past
One lone sparrow darting above
Cutting through the heavens

Wings moving flutter fast
Suddenly pressed tight close
Shooting through the air bullet brave
Slicing through air smooth as water

Out of the twigs and leaves
Away from the feather padding
No more regurgitation
Goodbye feeding

Pushed and shoved
Prodded and snipped
Tough love and what has to be done
Hard as it is, it is inevitable

And the image in mind
Morphs externally
But captures the true soul,
The real life struggles and cycle

Of all life
Of not only the flocks of birds
Of not simply humanity
Of an often incomplete group

Animals branch out
Down lines of ancestral roots
Sprouting buds of floral décor
Growing fruit amongst the leafy green

Becoming diverse and unique
Aligned through a common point
Invisible to the naked eye
Solid to the mental scope

Pushing through each day, facing each blow
Looking towards the newer
Looking back to the familiar
Pushing out the nest, facing nothing but now

Hours to Tomorrow

Day by day passing right on by

Hands on the clock keep twirling

Spinning around and moving forward

Stopping for none, continuing for all

Sprinting past continuously

And within what seemed like nothing at all

All of time goes swishing by

Looking back, all seems so close

Yet unreachable, so far away

No matter how much heart and will

Pushed forth to push backward

The iron wall stands towering, concrete

Nothing will be allowed passage

One way road, unchangeable

Wanting naught but to alter what was

To relive, to rebuild, to replay

Times past as present

But the guardians of time,

Keepers of memories,

Shove your insisting body away

Unsympathetic and unfeeling

Bounding forward,

Hurdling through time and space

The future nears so rapidly

And soon all comes to an end

Yet tomorrow always seems so far off

Like what will never happen

But before realizing, it arrives

Once reaching the destination,

However, it is no longer tomorrow

As that would be yet another day away

Countless hours ‘til it shall emerge

Materializing in only our thoughts

Creators of this continuum

Endlessly procrastinate
