Simplicity Unmasked

Seemingly simple

Thought to be plausible

Felt it was reasonable

Believed it was logical

Yet nothing is as it appears

But discovering the truth, one fears

So much contained in tears

Life and death, joy and hurt sears

Each day, a complexity

Build on continuously

Repeating yet varying in history

Unable to unravel the mystery

Discovering paraphernalia anew

Seeing the world from another view

Altered ideology true do we pursue

Perspective in need of review

What seemed like nothing at all

Dug deeper into a dimension parallel

Ego deflated, having taken such a fall

Trying to justify, nature shall compel

Beneath the eggshell smooth and petite

Attempting to protect what’s within incomplete

A youthful baby blooming in retreat

Life beginning and growing, not a mere simple feat

Hidden behind the unbreakable shell

The masked tortoise does dwell

Underneath hides soft flesh, safe and well

Vulnerable were this shelter to be expelled

Face behind the glorified mask

A painted and wooden task

Feelings unknown unless you ask

Delicate as a tulip, dandelion, pasque

Never sure of the background

And what led to the finale found

All time of life takes part and surrounds

Each differently, no matter how renowned
