Shoebox Valentine (song in progress)

Dark chocolate hair, milky smooth

Into a truffle curlicue

Voice minty to relax and soothe

Musical taste in every chew

Mouthwatering caramel skin

Deep, warm pools of his toffee eyes

Sweet on the outside and within

Staring at the candy, you sigh

Melting like butter in his grasp

Cheeks grow hotter than the oven

Deep toffee eyes meeting, you gasp

Giggling at what shall happen then

Puppy love, oh so young

Puppy love, innocent

Puppy love has now sprung

Puppy love, so content

Your shoebox valentine

Elementary friend

Your shoebox valentine

Now at childhood’s end

Handing over a homemade card

Staring down shyly at his shoes

Then the single rose from his yard

Cut to tell you his feelings true

Turning red and pink as the rose

Matching the valentine décor

Standing up on your tippy toes

Peck on the cheek, stare at the floor

Puppy love, oh so young

Puppy love, innocent

Puppy love has now sprung

Puppy love, so content

Your shoebox valentine

Elementary friend

Your shoebox valentine

Now at childhood’s end

Looking up shy without a sound

At any which way, all around

Out to recess at the bell’s sound

Side by side one another bound

Childhood innocence, so pure

Intent clean and untainted yet

Their L-U-V blooming still sure

Their first and never to forget

Puppy love, oh so young

Puppy love, innocent

Puppy love has now sprung

Puppy love, so content

Your shoebox valentine

Elementary friend

Your shoebox valentine

Now at childhood’s end

Your shoebox valentine

Young memories anew

Your shoebox valentine

Young days’ L-U-V true

Your shoebox valentine (Puppy love, oh so sweet)

Your shoebox valentine (Puppy love, such a treat)

Your shoebox, oh shoebox

Your shoebox valentine
