Don't Look Now

Don’t you dare look now
But you wipe the anticipation from your brow
You’re in for a nasty surprise
This was such a lovely disguise

You twist and turn awaiting the worst
Soundtrack fit for movies burst
Timing hilarious if it weren’t for the situation
Why do all the clichés have such complication?

Don’t you dare take a peek
But you can’t help it and you seek
You’re in for it; don’t say there was no warning
It has been divine, but now strikes the mourning

You spin around in circles in search
In a movie view from a high up perch
Entertainment galore it if weren’t happening to you
Why does all the drama have to come true?

Don’t look now, but it’s too late
It’s all relationships formed of love and hate
Lucky if you’d ever get out from down under
All the deceit you’ve laid out for yourself and all other

You found it now, but you regret ever looking
Don’t you wish your life weren’t so hooking?
But all of those fairy tales and curses that were not
Supposed to be real are the realities you’ve fought

Don’t look now is a warning and a trap
You knew it all along and one day would snap
Isn’t it such a pretty paradox?
Trapped in your own fantasia box

Magnetized and chasing an escape
That never keeps its ever-altering shape
Let the plotline play out role after role
And what was all laughs and play shall take its final toll
