Poster Child

Always in the shadow

Blown away as nothing important

Compared against one another always

Described as mediocre and insufficient

Everything seems to be wrong

For we are never going to be

Good enough for them

High expectations and norms set

Instead of praising that done well

Just simply critiques all that’s not

Knowing that somebody somewhere

Lies a bit higher up on that scale

Matching up qualities and activities

Not once beating them to come up on top

Only coming close, but that is not enough

Poster child, poster child

Queen and king of a perfect world

Ruling unknowingly

Suspecting naught of all the criticisms

They bring upon those striving for that perfection

Utopia unattainable when constantly,

Violently berated for all

We have done that does not please

Xenophobic hypocrites

Yielding their power and words to tear down

Zealous individuals until they doubt all
