the puppet woodenly stern yet slack
mouth
and hands and feet and tries
to
be tripped and drawn on string
The
puppeteer goes wild and blind
lashing
wide and fast
the
puppet is pulled from end to end
but
the string still won’t snap

wooden feet continue to dance
upon
the coals of heat
lit
afire and burning deep
while
the guilt continues to keep
To
keep on moving and going while falling
is
to keep them entertained

keep on smiling and dancing while bawling
